Shahid Afridi wants Virat Kohli to follow MS Dhoni’s Footsteps

Test series between India and Australia is going to start from December 6 at Adelaide. Before the IND vs AUS test series, Team India had a 4-day practice match against Cricket Australia XI where the opener Prithvi Shaw who was going to open in the first test accidentally injured himself.

Skipper Virat Kohli and his men have all the hopes to win their first Test series in Australia. Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has an opinion that Virat Kohli to be recognized as a great captain needs to win a series abroad.

He has advised Kohli to follow his antecedent MS Dhoni’s footsteps. Shahid Afridi gave an example of the great MS Dhoni and said, “As a captain, Virat needs to win a series abroad. I keep saying that how Dhoni has changed the course of Indian cricket as a captain and as a player, it’s the perfect example for Virat to follow,”.

Afridi said that Virat Kohli’s records speak for him and it shows what a player Virat is. The most impressive thing that Afridi noticed about Virat Kohli is that he takes the nets as a match and so whatever he does in the nets, he displays it in the match.

Afridi said that Virat Kohli takes the responsibility upon himself and it seems like he loves to face the challenges. Afridi said that if MS Dhoni is fit and willing to play then he should definitely be in the Indian squad for the World Cup.

On ongoing India vs Australia series, Afridi feels that India can win the series because Australia doesn’t have the team that they used to have. Also, India has a superb batting line-up and they have improved their bowling as well, said Afridi.

Shivam Dubey made his first-class debut for Mumbai in Ranji Trophy in the year 2017–18. Sunil Gavaskar feels that the young all-rounder Shivam Dubey will be on the radar of every franchise in the upcoming IPL Auction on December 18 in Jaipur.

Former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar wrote in his column for mid-day that, “One player who will definitely be on the radar of the scouts of the franchises, as well as the national selectors, is Shivam Dubey. Not since Yuvraj Singh and Sourav Ganguly has a left-hander hit the ball so cleanly and powerfully in Indian cricket,”.

Gavaskar added, “That he is also a medium pacer is a huge plus and more than the franchises, the national selectors should be sitting and taking notice of this talent. He has scored two Ranji hundreds and also picked a fifer which is more than some who are considered indispensable to the Indian team have done. Besides being a left hander, he also brings a variation that the team can do with,”.

Moreover, the IPL 2019 franchises have already confirmed their player retention and releases ahead of the IPL Auction. The good players like Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Glenn Maxwell, Aaron Finch who have already been released by their respective franchises.

Steve Waugh believes that Virat Kohli is like Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara

India’s Tour of Australia after the three-match T20I series that ended in a draw will now witness the four-match Test series starting from December 6.

India’s Captain Virat Kohli is expected to lead the Team from the front while the pressure to play well is on most of the players. Former Australia skipper Steve Waugh believes that Virat Kohli is a great player and he is like Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara who loves the big stage and the challenges that come with performing in tough situations.

Virat Kohli believes that he has no need to prove anything to anyone and he wants to give his hundred percent on the field and do what his team wants him to do. He said that he does not feel anything different when he goes on tour to other countries. He feels it is more a process now and said that the player learns from every series, every tour, every game that the player plays.

The 30-year old also said that he is now more assured of himself than the previous tour of Australia and does not feel the need to get involved in any confrontation with the Australians in the upcoming Test series.

Kohli in the early stage of his career thinks that these things as important milestones which are really important in one’s career but now his focus is purely and solely on making the team win at any cost.

Kohli added that he doesn’t find the need to get involved in anything with the opposition and he thinks those are changes that keep happening gradually as one goes forward.

Jason Gillespie reveals How Aussies should play against Virat Kohli in Test Series

India’s Tour of Australia started on 21 November with three-match T20I series that ended in a draw and now IND vs AUS Test series is all set to begin from December 6 at Adelaide Oval which is the Virat’s favorite ground in Australia.

Indian National Cricket Team Captain Virat Kohli is in full form and is all ready for the test series. India has not won any test series in Australia yet and this is the chance for India to win their first ever test series in Australian soil.

Former Australia pacer Jason Gillespie feels that Virat Kohli who is the best batsman in the world is not invincible. Gillespie feels that hitting the right areas against the India skipper from the word go is the way forward if one wants to dismiss him cheaply.

Jason Gillespie said that Aussies need to be switched on from ball one because if Kohli has faced 20-odd balls and he has got more than 10-15 runs then he usually gets a significant score and that is why it is so important to impact early.

He said that there cannot be any warm-up deliveries against Kohli and not to allow him to get going by giving him an easy shot — a half-volley, a tuck off the hip, a cut shot.

Jason Gillespie said if Kohli is going to score runs then make him earn them and make him play really good shots and let him take a risk. It applies to every batsman but as Kohli is such a big and important player in this Indian side and so much rests on him as captain, it is really important to make sure that Aussies are switched on and they are bowling the best delivery they can.

Former Australia pacer feels that another thing that will work against Kohli is that getting the ball to move early in his innings. He said that everyone thinks Kohli has no weaknesses and that is fair. Kohli has a lot of strengths but in England when the ball seamed or swung a little bit, Gillespie noticed that Kohli at times went really hard at the ball. He would like the Australian bowlers to have a look at that.

He said, “On good surfaces where the ball is not really swinging or seaming, even if the length is not really quite there to drive, Kohli might still throw his hands at it and he will connect 99 times out of 100. But those deliveries in the UK were a bit different, with the Dukes ball, where Kohli nicked to the keeper and slips reasonably early a few times,”.

The fourth stump line is also something that Gillespie wants the Australians to try against Virat Kohli. Moreover, Cricadium provides the most accurate toss prediction and cricket match prediction.

Shane Watson feels that it will be challenging for India to win against Aussies in the upcoming Test Series

India vs Australia Test series is all set to begin from December 6 at Adelaide. Many past and present cricketers have predicted the outcome of the series. Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson feels that the upcoming series is the Team India’s best chance to win.

India has not won any test series in Australia yet and this will be their first chance to win test series down under. Team India is considered as the strong side this time and

Australia is a depleted unit without their key players, Steve Smith and David Warner.
But Shane Watson believes that even without Steve Smith and David Warner, Team Australia has the quality to perform for victory. He feels that it will be challenging for India to take down Australia at their own home.

Shane Watson said that there is a massive home ground advantage for Australia and they have not lost too many times in the history in Australia. So while there is no doubt this is India’s best chance to win in Australia but it is still incredibly challenging to be able to win.

Earlier Virat Kohli and his men lost the Test series in South Africa and England but Team India’s bowling attack performed excellently in both the countries. But Watson feels that it will be challenging for Indian bowlers to play on Australian pitch.

Watson said, “Compared to South Africa, in Australia, depending upon the way wickets are prepared, it can get very very flat with the Kookaburra ball not doing much after the first 10 overs with the new ball.”

He said, “ It can be a challenge but India has got one of the strongest pace bowling lineups from a pace point of view. And some variety as well with Bumrah who provides a different angle and different speed. So it will be a good test for the Aussie batsmen,”

Shane Watson concluded that it is difficult to fill the places of Smith and Warner but Aussies still have the quality to be able to fill those holes and score runs that they need to win.

He said that their bowling attack is still very strong but so is India’s batting line up. Virat is going to play a big part and they have a lot of other incredible batsmen. So their batting stocks are pretty strong. So he thinks it’s going to be awesome Test series to be able to watch.
