Selection Committee Chief reveals the reason for not including Kedar Jadhav in Third ODI against West Indies

After the brilliant and record-breaking performance of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in first One Day International against West Indies out of the five-match ODI series at Guwahati, India took the lead by 1-0 as the match was won by India by 8 wickets.

The Second One Day International at Visakhapatnam ended in a thrilling tie. West Indies scored

321 runs at the loss of 7 wickets and India also scored 321 runs at the loss of 6 wickets. But the match was very special for Virat Kohli as he broke Master Blaster’s record.

For the Third One Day International scheduled at Pune, the BCCI announced India’s 15-man squad for the remaining 3 ODIs against West Indies.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah returned after being rested for the first 2 matches but the name of the key player in the middle order Kedar Jadhavwas missing. Not only his name but Mohammed Shami’s name was also excluded from the team.

Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav both underperformed in the first two ODIs against the West Indies but although Umesh Yadav managed to retain his place.

The all-rounderKedar Jadhav expressed surprise and said he did not know why he was not been included in the team and would want to know the reason behind the decision. On that election committee chief, MSK Prasad had responded to the all-rounder.

MSK Prasad said that we did not pick Kedar because of his history of fitness. There have been occasions earlier when he has come back fit and then broke down, a case in point being the Asia Cup last month.

He told that they were thinking that if India A won today, then Kedar would have got another match, which would have given us a fair assessment of his match fitness.

He further said that maybe we could have added him as an additional player in the Indian team before the fourth ODI as the Deodhar final is on Saturday. He concluded saying that the players need to understand that there is a process that they follow while selecting the team.

Indian Team Squad for the final 3 ODIs include Virat Kohli as Captain, Rohit Sharma as Vice-Captain and MS Dhoni as Wicket-Keeper. Other players include Shikhar Dhawan, Ambati Rayudu, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, and Manish Pandey.

Bowlers Department include Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Khaleel Ahmed and Umesh Yadav.

Here is what Run Machine Virat Kohli has to say on his remarkable achievement

Virat Kohli after performing brilliantly with Rohit Sharma in the first One Day International against West Indies at Guwahati out of the five-match ODI series made Team India take lead by 1-0.

On the second One Day International against West Indies at Visakhapatnam, Virat scored the successive century and also broke the record of Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar by becoming the fastest to 10000 ODI Runs.

Not only this he became the fifth Indian batsmen and 13 overall to score 10000 plus runs in ODI. He joined the elite group of 10k ODI runholder. Here is what the humble Virat Kohli said on his mindblowing achievement.

Virat Kohli told that he feels very grateful and blessed. He never imagined that he would get to this stage one day in one-day internationals career but it had happened and he is very thankful to God and he feels very grateful

Kohli feels that these things do not matter much but to understand that he has come this far in his career with playing for 10 years is something very special to him because he loves the sport so much and wants to play it more and more. For him, that is the most important thing.

He is just happy that he has been able to play for this long and he hopes to play for many more years to come. He never thought he could achieve this feat or he would get to that stage. He always thought that he just wants to play for India.

Kohli told that if you focus on the process and stay focused on the right things, then these things become irrelevant after a while. His duty is to score runs and having done it for a long time, everything has collected for this moment but the intention should always be to look for what the team needs and get as many runs as possible.

He has been able to push his physical abilities and mental abilities on what the team needs and in that process, more runs have been scored than otherwise. He told that he has just been focused on the situation and he is glad that he has been able to help the team with the bat.

He told that it is a great honor for him to represent India. Even after playing for 10 years, he does not feel that he is entitled to anything. He told you still have to work hard for every run you score at the international level because there are many people who want this very badly.

Rising Star Shubman Gill Cricket Career

In the recently concluded Vijay Hazare trophy, Indian cricketer Shubman Gill was the top run-getter for Punjab Team. He scored over 400 runs. In the ongoing Deodhar Trophy, Shubman Gill is playing for India ‘C’. Gill smashed 106 not out off 111 deliveries on in the tournament to guide India ‘C’ to a 6-wicket victory over India ‘A’.

Shubham Gill told to India Today that he could have been better though. He had a good Vijay Hazare season where he got three half-centuries and one ton. He twice got out in the 80s and regret not converting them into big scores. He has two fifties and two hundred, that is great for him.

He told that there is a long season ahead after the ongoing Deodhar matches which will be followed by Ranji Trophy, then India ‘A’ tour and domestic T20s. He is preparing well for it and keeping himself fit. He has to keep performing to knock on the doors of the Indian dressing room.

Recently Rising Star Shubham Gill told that he is ready to play for India following his U-19 captain Prithvi Shaw sensational Test debut into the Indian team. Gill along with Manish Pandey was called to be with Virat Kohli’s team during the final Test against the West Indies in Hyderabad. However, the match ended inside three days.

Gill said that he did not get much time to spend in the Indian dressing room. He had a talk with the team management. They advised him to keep batting well and cash-in the opportunity whenever it arrives. His ultimate goal remains to play for the senior team and to sustain there. He told that he wants to win matches and trophies for India.

Shubham Gill said he is deeply influenced by Rahul Dravid. He has been with us for the last two years starting with the Under-19 Asia Cup in Sri Lanka and then India ‘A’ tours. Dravid understands his batting really well. Dravid keeps on telling him that over a period of time, certain changes come in a batsman’s style which is not evident to the player himself and can only be identified by the one who is watching from outside.

Shubham Gill impressed everyone in IPL too. He is scoring over 200 runs in his debut season for Kolkata Knight Riders.

He told Playing IPL was great, they had some really experienced players in KKR including Dinesh Karthik. It was a learning curve as he interacted a lot with all the big names too. He youngster gains a lot of confidence by speaking with experienced players. He personally learns a lot when they share their experience with him. He also tries to understand how a big player thinks and gain a lot of confidence from it.

In the Punjab dressing room, Gill tries to get much feedback from Yuvraj Singh. He also knows that India ‘A’ tour of New Zealand next month will be a huge opportunity to impress everyone.

IPL 2019: Shikhar Dhawan to join Kings XI Punjab

The official announcement for Shikhar Dhawan’s move is yet to be made as soon as the transfer window will end in a few weeks.

Mumbai Indians have already added Quinton de Kock who was released by Royal Challengers Bangalore. Mumbai Indians have also released Mustafizur Rahman and Akila Dananjaya ahead of the auction for the next season.

Sunrisers Hyderabad could possibly release Manish Pandey as batsman failed to do justice with the amount of Rs.11 Crore for which he was bought by the franchise. Rajasthan Royals could release Jaydev Unadkat, who was bought for Rs 11.5 Crore as he just managed to take 11 wickets in IPL 2018.

As per reports, the auction for the upcoming season will take place in Goa instead of Bangalore on December 16. Other teams are also expected to come up with lists of released or transferred players.
